Digital Political Literacy
Digital political literacy refers to the individual skills and attitudes towards on-line political content. Using the DIGIEFFECT cross-national citizen survey, we provide an overview of digital political literacy (index based on three distinct component dimensions: functional, analytical, attitudinal) across 27 EU members states. The functional dimension measures respondents’ exposure to digital platforms through which political information is disseminated. The attitudinal dimension captures respondents’ affective and normative views regarding digital political communication and the risks associated with digital campaigning. The analytical dimension captures respondents’ skills in critically assessing political information and managing digital risks. The interactive visuals below provide accessible access in map formats and bar charts.
The visuals display the index of digital political literacy per country, followed by visualizations for each component dimension, namely functional, analytical, and attitudinal for each country. The mean values for each country are visualized in maps and bar charts below.
